BURN NOTICE

We need your help.  Many calls for outside fires are received that turn out to be "controlled burns".  We respond as if it is an emergency never knowing what we may find...this is a considerable waste of department resources and in fact, could affect our ability to respond to real emergency calls putting citizens and their property at increased risk.  Please notify us if you intend to legally burn by filling out the form below.  Should a concerned citizen report a fire, we use this information to contact you to see if you need our assistance and to verify if it is in fact, an intended burn and you have it under control.  Make special note:

  • You will only be contacted if your planned burn involves illegal materials or if we receive a call to respond.
  • Please refer to www.burnsafetn.org for Tips For Conducting a Safe Debris Burn.
  • This is NOT a replacement for your legal requirement to obtain a burn permit from the state at www.burnsafetn.org.
  • This does NOT release you of potential civil or criminal liability should your "controlled burn" become out of control.
  • This does NOT allow burning during a county or state wide burn ban.
  • This is free and helps us manage our resources for emergency calls.
  • Thank you for your support!
